Gods Of Metal 03/06/2005

I start stating in advance that, if the Crucified Barbara had not played, this year I’d have renounced with a lot of pleasure to this festival that every year propose us an higher price than the year before, not justified by improvement in the organization (a trip at the Sweden Rock or at the Wacken to learn a bit, cannot be??) and neither by such big names in the bill that can justify the 55 euros of the ticket for one day, so that I’ d prefere to go to attend some other festival out of Italy rather than that.

But ok, beeing the festival in Milan, and having to be inside the arena at 10 o'clock in the morning of Saturday we leave home on Friday afternoon, we place us in a little pension and at 4pm we are already in the Gods area, today the price is only ten euros (besides there are only italian bands) but we have the first bad surpise: they don't use a bracelet (like now in quite all festivals in the world...) and neither a stamp like past year in Bologna, you can go out of the area only in four stated hours (the day after five...but doesn't change so much) and at the entrance I cannot stop my disappointment.

We take informations about Saturday and they tell us that they don't make the pit as announced for the first three thousand people arrived (but, at the end they will do it...) and the beer cost is 5 euros (!!!) in short, our day don't start in the best way.

The area is good, there is a lot of shade even if is not so big and is flat so you can see the stage (that is very good) only staying in front of it, and then in some zones neither in front (as there’s a tree in the middle).

At the end, after having a good day, and after we saw the good show of the hystorical italian metal band called Strana Officina, after having the last beer, we go to bed because we've to wake up early the day after, departure expected at eight o'clock.

Saturday morning, at the expected time we are already in the car, we arrive in brief at the area of the festival, we park and we see that there is already a lot of people standing in queue to enter, so we take position and wait.

9 o’clock arrives (time expected for opening) and it’ s still closed, and they don't open the doors, the tension rise and finally, after quite a quarter we can start to enter slowly.

After a short waiting we are inside the area, and there is, to our surprise, the promised pit, we can enter it and immediatly we fling ourselves searching a place more ahead as possible to enjoy as much as we can the gig of Crucified, and I arrive quite near the first row, in central position, more ahead is difficult to go.

A fairly good sun start to warm us when 'our' girls appears on the stage and are just a couple of minutes after 10 o'clock.

Is a very strange time for a gig... but ok, to follow them is not a problem to wake up very early and the long waiting out of the gates.

However the girls are in very good form and starting with "Play Me Hard" begins to drag a part of the audience already enough numerous at this time, thanks to the pit thing.

The volume is very low and I can't hear too well standing here (I don't know more far, but the audio is very bad) and moreover after a while started to rise some problems on the instruments that force at least Klara and Ida to stop to play for a bit.

Their concert is very fast, they have only half an hour at disposal and cannot stop themselves a little, but Mia cares a lot to try to keep the stage while the other two colleagues of strings are unfurtunately out for the above-mentioned problems.

For the final everything is quite good and and then they greet us after their very short exhibition

We leave the pit having the possibility to re-enter it at our pleasure, and we wait a bit in front of the "Metal Hammer" tent, where take place the 'meet&greet' with the bands, to look if CB come out... a short wait and on the board appears their name, expected for 1pm.

So we take a break, eat and drink and, after having seen the final part of the Edguy gig easily from the pit, we are in the front of the tent where are already crowdling a lot of people.

CB arrives in time and it’ s an assault... It's very hard to plunge myself toward the first row (nether if it was a gig!) but at the end I am quite in front when Nicki see me and comes to welcome me, just the time to ask "hello, how are you? see you next time!" and have to escape, on the heels Klara, Mia and finally Ida, but the girls are in hurry and there is not many time, in the afternoon they have to take a flight to Germany, where they’ ll play the day after at the Rock Hard Festival, and have to carry out some commitments with the journalists.

We enjoy all the rest of the day especially in the evening with Motörhead, very great show even if they have only one hour at disposal as usual (we are in Italy), followed by the very good performance of Def Leppard and by the classic one of Whitesnake and then is already time to drive back home....after one hour of waiting to go out of the parking.
